And, It’s Sunday

Trip 2 – Day 19

Sunday, January 27, 2013

This morning we went to breakfast at “Freddy’s,” the on-site restaurant.  Today’s special was blueberry pancakes, and we all enjoyed them.  This is a cute little restaurant with 5 tables and some additional outdoor seating.  Each meal is made to order, and is run by 2 couples who trade off working, and also live here.  The idea did tug at me until I bussed my own dishes back to the dish room and realized that there was no sanitizer; (a “dish washer” in the commercial setting) all dishes were done with the “3-sink method.”  Yes, it is absolutely sanitary, but sooooo much more work to hand wash and sanitize all those dishes.  The restaurant business is not for the faint of heart or back.

Sunday’s are a newspaper reading day for Dad.  He bought the San Diego newspaper at the little grocery and came home and spent the morning blissfully reading the paper.  I took a circuitous route back to the Hag after our breakfast and checked out the “Sewing and Craft Room” here at FOY.  It looks interesting, but I am thinking that I will continue on with my plan of doing my own thing.  Many of the things the groups do are for charity, and they’ve been working on them for a while.  Staying here only a week, (or two) we are short timers and joining in events is somewhat more difficult.  I’ll work on my own projects and be pretty happy.

The big event of the day was a long walk around the park.

We took Wiley to the dog park, and explored all the things this park has to offer.

Last night, a professional yodeler and accordion player performed.  We peeked through the windows of the large hall where this event was to be held.  Although tempting, we didn’t go.  The park has a few raised bed garden plots that folks must be able to reserve.

And, at the end of our self-directed tour, we ended at the market for ice cream treats.

Then, as any “prefect day” should end, luck would have it that a football game was on TV.  It’s remarkable how that happens.  The boys watched the game and napped, and I sewed.

Wiley took me for a brief stroll at sunset, and another day comes to a close.
