Trip 2 – Day 36
Wednesday, February 13, 2013
Craig and I sprinted out of bed and were on the road heading toward the hospital, by 8:00. We arrived a little after 9:00 and began our day of waiting. I had called Dad’s nurse before we left and was told that Dad had a “good night.” When we arrived it was obvious that he was tired. He hadn’t gotten much sleep, and the exhaustion that a hospital procedure causes seemed to be taking its toll. So, we waited, and waited, and waited. The hours passed and no doctor, no nurse, no information.
Dad had lunch, and I had lunch. The canine therapy dogs came for a visit, as did a lovely man from the “Mended Hearts,” a group of volunteers who provide support to heart patients and their families. Dad was taken for more tests, he came back, and again we waited.
Around 4:00, the doctor showed up, and said that he would release Dad and we could go home. Within 45 minutes, we were out the door, picking up a prescription at Walgreens, and off to FOY. What a relief – we are all back together, grateful for the doctors expertise, the highly skilled staff at Eisenhower Memorial, and to be home in our own little Hag ready for a good night’s sleep.
