We left Canyonville at 9:15am, ready to avoid the winds predicted for the valley. I had done some cleaning to the Hag and gotten us fed. The torrential rains began about 15 minutes into the drive and continued most of the way home. Craig, the driver of the daisies, is quite amazing and also a somewhat frighteningly fearless driver under these situations. And so, we barreled down the highway “going fast, fast, fast,” to quote the Grateful Dead, and arrived home around 1:00.
We were greeted by fair weather, (no rain, surprisingly) a LOT of mail, two months worth, actually, and a dead battery in the automatic gate. All able to be rectified soon.
This might be a good time to reflect on the two-month stay in the desert, in the middle of nowhere. The cactus bloomed for us.
The sunsets were beautiful.
Our neighbors were lovely. I’m glad we ended up in our same spot.
We were “entertained”……..sort-of.
I sewed and did handwork. And I wrote.
Dad got warm and is now, no doubt, a Sudoku master. Craig happily enjoyed everything the desert had to offer. And, dear Wiley enjoyed being with us all day, every day.
Highlight of the day: Arriving home safe, sound, and unscathed!
